I received this book from Book Sirens to read and honestly review
I liked the blurb, got me interested and wanting to read. I honestly should have left it at that.
Alex the main character has “secrets” and apparently we are not allowed to know what any of those secrets are, except for 1, maybe 2. There are quite a few grammatical errors and flow problems with this story. Nothing really made sense to me, and everything was majorly disjointed. I could not follow this at all. We never get the full story on anything, side remarks about Ms. Kristen the neighbor, Hayes the neighbor’s son. But never anything substantial about any character. There is the “habit” of Alex’s that I can only assume is an eating disorder, though it is never labeled.
The things Alex does in this story also make no sense, and the side characters reactions are beyond silly. Honestly, if I left to go get my younger (but still in high school) brother and his girlfriend food, but didn’t show back up until morning; there would be more than a “Get lost again? ‘ joke.
The writing was lackluster and I spent more time correcting context and spelling in my head than focusing on the story.
