It seems like with every year that goes by, there are more and more exciting things happening in the world of gaming. It’s one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, and as such, it brings in some of the best brains in tech development, which in turn means that better quality products are put on the digital shelves. It’s an exciting cycle to witness!
Whether you want to use your games console to play exciting sports games, first-person shooters, or to access online casino games, there’s a lot to be excited about right now. And speaking of casinos, review sites have compiled a list of the best poker sites available right now that can be accessed through a browser, allowing you to play on a gaming console, a mobile phone, or a desktop computer. From popular Texas Hold’em to Omaha and even Live Dealer Poker, there are many different poker variations to choose from. You may learn about tournaments and cash games, as well as the legality and frequently asked questions from the site.
So, without further ado, let’s take a look back at 2021 and find out the most exciting things to happen in game development and how that might affect our future.

With the (perhaps slightly spooky) announcement of Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and their Metaverse, it’s clear to see that the big tech companies are trying to take social relationships out of the real world and into the virtual world.
Whether that frightens you or excites you, it’s certainly happening, and it looks like it’s about to make its way into video games rather than just social media sites. But it’s not as simple as that. In fact, it looks like there’s going to be a blend between the worlds of gaming and social media.
It might not be so scary after all. We’re not sure what this is going to look like yet, but it could actually be quite an exciting opportunity. We know we’ll be checking it out at least, so bring it on, developers!
Enhanced audiovisual relationships
Have you ever tried to play an adventure game in silence? It really just does not have the same immersive effect as if you play it loud or even more so when you have a good quality pair of headphones on.
Game designers are realising how important game sound is (we’re talking about both sound effects and music), so we heard some of the best sound in 2021. Nowadays, we’re seeing a much more seamless blend between what you see on the screen and what you hear, and that makes for a much more impressive gaming experience.
With all kinds of amazing sound technologies right around the corner, such as binaural beats and 3D sound, this is only going to become more of a factor in years to come, so we recommend keeping an eye on the trend and paying attention to what you hear next time you hit your console at home!
A blast from the past
One of the most interesting things to happen in 2021 was a new game console drop from one of the most vintage names in the gaming world: Atari. The Atari VCS was released on June 15th, and a lot of people got pretty excited about it.
The console didn’t get the best reviews in the world due to an unjustifiably high price, but we love the fact that retro gaming makes a comeback from time to time. Hopefully, it’s a sign of things to come, as we’d love to see a bit more nostalgia back in the gaming mainstream, perhaps at a lower price next time around.
What’s next in 2022?
Based on these three observations, we’re pretty sure that we’re going to see an enhanced social media virtual world hit the games console domains in the future. However, whether that will be in 2022 or a bit further down the line remains to be seen. And for more about gaming trends, why not take a look at the best gaming books?
Of course, game sound could fit into this future quite nicely. Virtual reality and great sound could make for a super exciting pairing, and this is surely right around the corner. In terms of retro gaming, we’re not convinced that there’s going to be a lot of activity in 2022, but we sure are keeping our fingers crossed for it!
