You linger in my thoughts through night and day. Sometimes I lose hours thinking about you. I don’t know how it is that you still have this hold over me. It must be over fifteen years ago since I saw you last…let me think…yes; it’s sixteen years. You were something special to me, Alex…’
When Joanna Day puts pen to paper to disclose a love she has held in her heart for two decades, she has no idea that the letter will find its way to her intended reader. Jo is mortified when Alex gets in contact about what she has written. All her private thoughts which she was simply trying to move from her head to paper are now exposed. Jo feels completely bewildered and embarrassed when talking to Alex. She is also furious with her new friend Laurie for sending it to her. As Jo makes the changes needed in her life, she finds herself invited to visit Alex in her new home. The chance to see the woman she has loved for so many years is impossible to resist so Jo finds herself making the trip down the coast; with her friend Laurie in tow for moral support. Being with Alex is wonderful for Jo. Even though Alex is in a happy and committed relationship, she becomes a good friend to Jo and supportive through her changing life. As Jo wrestles with her emotions, she finds Alex to be a great support. To add to the confusion, Laurie also steps in to be there for her in a very real and tangible way. With two women suddenly offering friendship and possibly more, which way will Jo turn? To her lifelong love-who she has never been able to forget? Or to someone new-who is real and possibly more suited to Jo than Alex ever really was?
