Lectures on Architecture and Painting – Art history focuses on aesthetic works created by humans for their own sake over past eras, and is often presented as a chronology of the masterpieces that were created during each civilization.
It is the narrative of high culture that is represented at one end by the Wonders of the World. However, at the other end, folk arts and crafts can also be integrated into art history. When art history addresses low culture, it examines visual culture or material culture, or contributes to fields relating to art history, such as anthropology or archaeology, where art objects may be referred to as archeological artifacts.
