This book is a pilot course in the Mechanics of Materials (Elasticity and Strength) offered to engineering students throughout the bachelor study. The main objective of this course is for students of engineering to develop the ability to analyse a given problem in a simple and logical manner and to its solution, apply a few fundamental and well-understood principles. This book consists of 6 chapters which include fundamental types of loading: axial, torsional, bending, and transversal. Each chapter contains many solved and unsolved problems.

Assoc. Prof. Roland Jančo, Ph.D. ING-PAED IGIP
Roland Jančo studied in the area of Applied Mechanics at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2003 and became an Assoc. Prof. in the area of Applied Mechanics in 2011.
Currently he is an Assoc. Prof. at the Institute of Applied Mechanics and Mechatronics, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovak Republic.
Roland is an active researcher, with a keen interest in strength of materials, plasticity and creep, composite materials, numeric methods in mechanics (FEM, BEM), creating new materials models, numerical simulation of linear and nonlinear problems in thermodynamics, fluid, statics and dynamics, fusion and friction stir welding.
He has written a scientific monograph, is co-author of four books related to his field in Slovakia and abroad, and has published more than 50 papers. Assoc. Prof. Roland Jančo, has given invited lectures in many countries and supervised several PhD. and postdoctoral students.
Assoc. Prof. Branislav Hučko, Ph.D.
Branislav Hučko finished his Master study in Applied Mechanics at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava in 1985. He obtained his Ph.D. degree at the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava in 1991. From 1998 he is an Assoc. Prof. in Applied Mechanics at the Slovak University of Technology.
Currently he is working at the Institute of Applied Mechanics and Mechatronics, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovak Republic.
His research activities are focused on biomechanics, mainly on the gait analysis of healthy and disabled people and developing experimental and simulation methods in biomechanics; developing material models for cellular solids and human tissues. HOW TO GET FREE STEAM GIFT CARDS
